Although times and styles charge, some good
things remain "all-time food favorites" and
some have become classics.
Remember when as a child your parents
brought you to Uncle John's to have our
favorite kind of pancakes - chocolate,
strawberry, and of course the all-timer
"butter-milk cakes". Mom had Swedish
pancakes with lingonberry butter. Dad had
the corn beef hash and egg plate and little
Johnny got the junior plate.
Throughout the ages, pancakes have been
created in many ways with many recipes. We
at Uncle John's still use the same tried and
true recipes, unchanged from thirty years
ago, all made from scratch with the finest
ingredients.
Uncle
John's was the first restaurant built in the
new Westgate area and now boasts that we are
still here as the oldest restaurant in the
area and the city's first pancake house.
Almost
as famous as our pancakes is our mug of hot
chocolate, heaped with real whipped cream,
and sprinkle of chocolate chips, known by
kids of all ages.
Did we
mention our coffee? The very best beans are
selected by John himself on semi-annual
trips to the roasting houses in Chicago.
Roasted just right, our coffee is rated the
best city-wide, attested by the many
awards it has received.
Our
family of waitresses has always greeted
their customers with casual friendliness
only found at Uncle John's. And then there
are the cooks - you will see many a customer
stopping by to ask how their food was cooked
or they will have a special request. Some
customers are even seen offering them a tip
for a great meal or just stopping to say
hello and introduce their kids to Uncle
John.
Being
the tops in pancakes in Toledo all these
years in not the only reason for the
popularity of Uncle John's. Omelets have
been on our menu almost as long, the list of
different kinds has been expanded and
trimmed until we achieved the most popular
types. But, if you request an unusual omelet
as many do, no problem.
Continuing to offer you variety with matched
success of our breakfast, waffles,
sandwiches, burgers, dinners, and desserts
were added during the later years and are
available at any time.
This
year, newly remodeled for the fourth time,
we hope you enjoy the new surroundings...
easiest to find - the largest, brightest
sign, just south of I-475 on Secor in
Westgate.
We
strive to make this your favorite place for
food and family. Thanks for the patronage of
you, our customers, over the years. |
